Founded in 1895, the family-owned company OCULUS Optikgeräte GmbH has been a global partner for ophthalmologists, optometrists and opticians for 125 years. In over 80 countries around the world, authorized and trained dealers represent OCULUS products, which stand for precision and reliability and meet the high demands of medical technology.

Challenge

Continuous willingness to train customers and partners

Whether measuring spectacles, biometric devices, keratographs or non-contact tonometers with ultra-high-speed cameras – OCULUS optical devices focus on first-class instruments for eye diagnostics. The progressive development of medical technology requires customers and partners to be continuously willing to undergo further training. More than 200 dealers in over 80 countries must be professionally qualified and have the necessary know-how at the right time. The need to digitize customer and partner training has increased, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.

The complex content of medical technology needs to be communicated interactively and digitally without losing any of its sharpness. With the help of hiveQ, the Learning Management System (LMS) from IM|S, e-learning was successfully introduced at OCULUS.

Interactive training courses at the OCULUS Academy for sustainable knowledge

Both nationally and internationally, regular training courses at the OCULUS Academy are a prerequisite for the qualification of customers and partners. hiveQ is used as a learning management system (LMS) for almost 600 active users in order to provide online training courses regardless of time and location.

The OCULUS design gives customers and partners the opportunity to deepen their knowledge with the help of video tutorials with step-by-step instructions or interactive web-based training. In addition to this opportunity, the OCULUS brand world will also be further expanded to strengthen customer and partner loyalty to the brand.

The hiveQ knowledge database, which contains almost 300 learning materials in various formats, also supports ophthalmologists, opticians and occupational physicians in the targeted transfer of knowledge.

The various learning contents include interactive elements, film sequences and learning checks, such as multiple-choice tasks. These make the online training entertaining and interactive, resulting in lasting learning success.

OCULUS closely supported IM|S in the creation process of the digital learning media. This enabled them to create their own appealing online training courses. hiveQ offers complete freedom in terms of integration: content created in-house can also be easily integrated and accessed. This means that OCULUS customers and partners can now be trained with learning media tailored specifically to their needs.

With so-called “Going-Live-Services”, consisting of consulting, enabling, content and rent an expert, IM|S supports OCULUS from the appropriate strategy to the implementation of an LMS to the creation of digital content, such as web-based training.
